Boston Marathon

My first experience with the “heat of a national story,” was as part of the student-powered news team that helped break the news that the Boston Marathon terrorism attack had ties to Maryland.

I ran about a mile to snap some photos of an emotional press conference with one of the bombing suspect’s uncles, and then remained on the scene, reporting back to my colleagues with updates as they began drafting two articles that were eventually picked up on the news wire by The McClatchy Company.

The student team crafted an audio slideshow mostly using my photos. One of my shots (shown below) was featured in a photo slideshow on the website of the then-fifth-most widely circulated newspaper in the country, the San Jose Mercury News.
